The Holland Track cuts through Western Australia's Goldfields, following the historic route opened by John Holland and his party during the gold rush era of the 1890s.

Today it's a very different drive from WA's big open outback routes. Narrow bush sections, ruts, clay and changing conditions keep things interesting, particularly when rain has been through. There's plenty of scrub close to the track too, so a few extra pinstripes can easily become part of the trip.

The history is a big part of what makes the Holland worth driving. You're following an old inland route through bush country that still feels a long way removed from the highway.
