Big Red sits west of Birdsville on the eastern edge of the Simpson Desert, rising above the surrounding dune country and marking one of the most recognisable stops on a Simpson crossing.

For eastbound travellers coming off the QAA Line, it's a fitting final challenge before Birdsville. For others, Big Red is a destination in its own right. Either way, sand conditions, tyre pressures, vehicle weight and the line you choose can make every attempt different.
